Description
The Club
The Club was founded in 1967 by a small group of like-minded people who became the founder members, some of whom are still active within the Club today. From its small beginnings, it has developed into one of the largest and most successful clubs in the country.
We are affiliated to the British Horse Society and have 3 types of membership: senior (18 years and over), junior (12-17 years) and non-riders (for people who like to be with horses, meet people and help at events as well as attend all the lectures/demos and unmounted activities). All our members receive our News Letters throughout the year. We encourage riders at all levels, from those who are starting out or have novice horses, to those who compete at top events. Training is organized for all levels in all disciplines and most are group lessons (a good introduction for young horses).
Competitions
We hold many competitions throughout the year, including Dressage, Combined Training, Dressage to Music, Show Jumping, Eventers Challenge, Hunter Trials, Horse Trials and our annual Open Horse show each summer which has approximately 50 classes of showing, showjumping, and dressage.
A Very Sociable Club
Competitions
We enjoy the organized beach/social rides, lectures/ demonstrations, quiz nights, BBQs, and winter suppers/entertainment. Every November we hold our Annual General Meeting and encourage all to attend as it's an excellent opportunity to hear about the Club's activities and make suggestions for future events. Trophies and awards are presented to successful members and we take the opportunity to present thank-you awards to all our volunteers and helpers. Supper follows the meeting which is a good opportunity to catch-up and chat. Our aim is to keep the Club's atmosphere friendly and inclusive with everything being fun and enjoyable. We want to increase our knowledge and abilities to benefit our horses.
