The Minster Veterinary Practice was established in 1985, and was the first veterinary practice in Yorkshire to have a specifically designed equine operating theatre. In 1998 we became an equine specific department and opened the Poppleton branch where we remain to this day.
We are dedicated to providing professional first opinion veterinary services for all types of equines in Yorkshire, from our two clinics; Poppleton on the outskirts of York, and the Malton clinic situated in the heart of racehorse country in Yorkshire.
Our equine-only veterinary surgeons are equipped with a full range of portable diagnostic equipment, including digital endoscopy, radiography and ultrasonography. This allows us to diagnose and treat a wide variety of conditions stableside, without requiring your horse to be transported into the clinic. Our team of vets have postgraduate qualifications in advanced veterinary practice, including Orthopaedics, Diagnostic Imaging, Dentistry and Internal Medicine that enable us to deliver a first-class first opinion ambulatory veterinary service. We cover a wide area encompassing York, Harrogate, Wetherby, Easingwold, Selby, Malton, Scarborough and Market Weighton.
As an RCVS accredited practice, we are committed to promoting and maintaining the highest standards of veterinary care for all equines across the Yorkshire region. We are proud to be a BEVA Approved Artificial Insemination centre, providing full reproductive services including embryo transfer. Alongside our everyday work, we provide veterinary services for prestigious events throughout the year, including The Great Yorkshire Show, Bramham International Horse Trials, all racing fixtures at the York Racecourse meets, as well as attending several local shows, events and point-to-points. We are passionate about encouraging sustainable veterinary care and reducing our impact on the environment, and aim to become the most sustainable equine practice in the UK.
